Dexter Council to interview candidates for town manager
Saturday, October 15, 2011
By Diana Bowley, BDN Staff: DEXTER, Maine — Twenty-three people applied for the position of town manager in Dexter, after a second round of advertisements.

Of the 23, the Town Council has selected nine of the strongest candidates to interview on Oct. 18, 20, and 26.

In late August, the council had narrowed the field down to a candidate from Skowhegan during the first round of advertisements, but the final candidate was unwilling to relocate to Dexter.

Town Council Chairman Roger Brawn said Friday that many of the candidates from the latest search were from out of state, a few were from Maine and there were a couple of local people who applied. He said the council generally was pleased with the pool of applicants.

The position has been vacant since former Town Manager Dave Pearson resigned effective Sept. 1. Pearson immediately was hired as the town manager for neighboring Sangerville.
