Mayo opens Corinna Family Practice on Feb. 11
Monday, January 07, 2002
CORINNA - Local healthcare services will be restored to Corinna residents starting Feb. 11 with the opening of Corinna Family Practice in the town-owned medical office building on Route 7.

Corinna Family Practice will be the eighth physician office managed by Mayo Regional Administrative Services Corporation, the physician management affiliate of Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. Other Mayo physician offices are located in Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford and Milo.

Mayo has signed a 10-year lease agreement with the Town of Corinna for the medical office building. Plans are to staff the office Monday through Friday, with a healthcare provider on site four days each week.

Medical services will initially be provided by Lisa Bartley, a family nurse practitioner who will be in Corinna on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. James Berry, MD, a family practice physician, will also see patients one day each week. Mark Hanson, a physician assistant who had practiced at the former Corinna Health Center, will have office hours every other Tuesday.

Advice on after-hours healthcare needs will be provided through a nursing triage system accessible to patients via telephone. Mayo plans eventually to offer selected outpatient specialty clinics at Corinna, such as obstetrics, and diabetes and nutrition services.

Bartley has been a family nurse practitioner for over seven years, and has practiced at Guilford Medical Associates since 1995. A Greenville Junction resident, Bartley has 20 years of nursing experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine and her Master's of Science in nursing, graduate family nurse practitioner program, from the University of Maine.

Nurse practitioners are experienced registered nurses who have advanced education and clinical training. Bartley treats adults and children for routine physical examinations, immunizations, prenatal care and common health problems, and prescribes or recommends prescriptions for medications.

Corinna Family Practice will also be staffed by an office coordinator and a medical assistant. The practice may be contacted, starting Jan. 28, by calling 278-3238.
