MAINE - Maine Network for Health is pleased to announce that Mayo Regional Hospital has become the 12th Maine hospital to join its network roster of participating healthcare facilities and providers. While remaining an independent healthcare organization, Mayo Regional Hospital can now take advantage of services that should increase its efficiency while holding down costs. Healthcare organizations and individual providers join Maine Network for Health (MNH) to take advantage of contracting arrangements and other services. MNH serves 12 hospitals and over 900 individual providers across northern and eastern Maine by helping them to participate in contracts with health insurers and plans, and by providing other services such as credentialing and administrative support. MNH has also developed expertise in providing information, assessments, training and project management in the area of quality improvement, which is a growing focus in healthcare. Medicare and private insurers are linking a growing portion of healthcare payments to measurements of the quality of care rendered by provider organizations. From offices located in Bangor, MNH develops and provides services that respond to local provider needs. Founded in 1995 by local doctors and hospitals, the company was intentionally formed to build these types of collaborative efficiencies. “In an increasingly challenging financial environment, providers must be as cost-effective as possible,” says MNH President Stephen Ryan. “Accessing MNH services helps them to keep their costs to down, yet not let important activities fall by the wayside” Mayo Regional Hospital is a non-profit, 25-bed critical access hospital located in Dover-Foxcroft, the county seat of Piscataquis County. Opened in 1978, Mayo was established by 12 local towns to serve the healthcare needs of residents in a three-county area of rural central Maine. Mayo Hospital has 24 physicians and 355 other staff members dedicated to providing acute medical/surgical care, intensive care, surgical services and obstetrics in an inpatient setting, as well as a wide array of outpatient services. Mayo Practice Associates, a department of the hospital, owns and operates eight physician practices in Corinna, Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford and Milo. |
