DEXTER - The 1st Maine Branch held it's annual Ice Fishing Derby fundraiser on the weekend of January 17th & 18th.
In spite of -20 degree weather on Saturday and snow & wind on Sunday driving the wind chill factor into the outhouse, 90 fishermen took part in the derby. Grand prizes of an Ice Man Ice Fishing house valued at $995 and a lifetime hunting & fishing license for a youth valued at $500 drew a good crowd. A total of $2300 in prizes were awarded along with trophies for the largest fish in each category. The Lifetime License was won by a 9 year old Tyrell Jones from Glenburn Maine and the Ice Man Ice house was won by Jim Rand.
