Monday, January 26, 2009
Tyrell JonesDEXTER - The 1st Maine Branch held it's annual Ice Fishing Derby fundraiser on the weekend of January 17th & 18th.

In spite of -20 degree weather on Saturday and snow & wind on Sunday driving the wind chill factor into the outhouse, 90 fishermen took part in the derby.

Grand prizes of an Ice Man Ice Fishing house valued at $995 and a lifetime hunting & fishing license for a youth valued at $500 drew a good crowd.

A total of $2300 in prizes were awarded along with trophies for the largest fish in each category.

The Lifetime License was won by a 9 year old Tyrell Jones from Glenburn Maine and the Ice Man Ice house was won by Jim Rand.

The biggest fish are as follows:
Togue, 4.30 lbs, was caught by Mike Levesque of Sanford
Salmon, 2.06 lbs was caught by Rich Gudroe of Dexter
Brook Trout, 1.40 lbs by Joe York
Pickeral 1.68 lbs by Dylan Childers of Dexter
Most Yellow perch was a tie at 8 fish by Austin & Dylan Childers of Dexter

QDMA 1st Maine Branch would like to extend our gratitude to the many local businesses who contributed door prizes to our event.
