DOVER-FOXCROFT - Heartwise, the cardiac rehabilitation program at Mayo Regional Hospital, will observe National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, Feb. 3-9. Heartwise will launch a month-long project during February, which is American Heart Month, to promote the importance of proper diet in preventing heart disease. Heartwise staff will use labels to identify Heart Healthy foods in participating supermarkets throughout the Penquis region: Bud's Shop 'n Save in Dexter, Graves Supermarket and Sav-A-Lot in Dover-Foxcroft, Goulette's IGA in Guilford and the Milo Farmers' Union. Heartwise will also offer two Heartsaver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training sessions during February. The first will be Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Corinna Family Practice in the town-owned health center, and the second will be Monday, Feb. 25, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Dexter ambulance station. Starting Feb. 12, and continuing the second Tuesday of each month, Heartwise will schedule a free blood pressure clinic from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Corinna at Sunshine Village. Heartwise will raffle off a queen-size, triple Irish chain quilt made by June Marsh of Brownville, with proceeds to benefit Heartwise patients. The quilt is on display at Dover-Foxcroft Family Medicine, and the winning ticket will be drawn at the end of February.
