DEXTER - On the weekend of February 16-18, weather permitting, the Town of Dexter, Dexter Merchants and the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club will host the seventh annual Winter Festival in Dexter. The theme for this year’s festival is “Bring Back the Fabulous Fifties”!
The theme is applied to the snow sculpture contest (excluding the school category), the dance, the parade and for area merchants to dress up. Please promote yourselves with dressing up or having a related sale or give away!
So...dust off those saddle shoes, poodle skirts, tight jeans and t-shirts. Slick back your hair and listen to the tunes of Buddy Holly, Nat King Cole, Frankie Avalon, Elvis, Johnny Ray, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Head into town doing the Jitterbug, the Mashed Potato, the Pony, the Swim or even the Twist! Have yourself a cheeseburger, French fries and a root beer float to celebrate. Dig out the hula hoops, chew some bubble gum or rent a movie with James Dean or you can read a book about Marilyn Monroe. Just bring back the fabulous fifties!
