DEXTER - Dexter Regional High School will hold their annual Student Led Conferences on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012. The conferences are for all first, second and third year students. They are an important part of the advisory program at Dexter Regional High School. The Advisory Program was implemented in order to engage students in setting their academic goals and assessing their programs through the use of personal learning plans, portfolios, and student led conferences. The conferences are held each year in an effort to increase parental involvement. Schools using student led conferences have indicated that students are proud and eager to share their work with their parents. The conference will provide an opportunity for parents to meet with their student's advisor, who has been assigned to their student during their freshman year. The advisory follows the student throughout their course of study at Dexter Regional High School, and the student and their advisor currently meet once a week to assess their strengths and learning styles and to identify; their academics and personal goals. During the conference the student reviews progress, strengths and concerns and learning goals with their parents and may also review course selections for the upcoming year. The faculty and staff will also be available to talk to parents to discuss any questions or concerns. Sign up forms have gone home with all students so that parents may choose which is the best time for them to attend. The slips need to be returned to the advisor as soon as possible in order to have the preferred time. If you have any questions, or need to re-schedule an appointment, please contact Sharon Mountain at 924-5537 Ext. 240. |
