The Child Abuse and Neglect Councils of Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties are offering a series of workshops on responding to and preventing violence against children called "Our Children's Future." The next workshop in the monthly series is entitled "The Role of the Legal System." This two-part workshop will explore the roles that teachers, DHS workers, lawyers, and the courts play in the child protective system. The first part of the workshop, "Mandated Reporting," will be on Thursday, February 20. The second part, "Understanding the Child Protective System," will be held on the following Thursday, February 27. The cost for this workshop is $75. Continuing Education Units are available for this and all of the workshops in this series. All workshops in this series are held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Penquis C.A.P., 262 Harlow St. in Bangor. The workshops will also be available at the same time by videoconference at the Penquis C.A.P. office at 50 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft. A light supper is included in both locations.
