The Bangor Daily News And the Mid Maine Historical Society will sponsor a special display at the annual Penquis Valley Regional Expo on March 31st and April 1st at Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford.

The display is entitled "A Salute to Central Maine's Greatest Generation" (How the history of World War II effected the lives of residents of Central Maine.)

The focus of the display said Chamber director Dennis Lyford will be on the home front. The Mid Maine Historical Society will have displays showing what sacrifices local citizens made during the war. He added the displays would feature ration cards, local photos etc.

On Saturday a panel of local historians featuring Everett Parker, Louis Stevens and Bill Sawtell will discuss local history of POW camps and civil defense.

The Bangor Daily News will display a collection of front-page stories from World War II. Local poet Tom Lyford will also read poetry from that era as well.

The Chamber hopes to add a second panel discussion in the next week added Lyford.
