PENQUIS AREA - The 22nd Annual Penquis Valley Region Expo scheduled for April 2 & 3 at Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford will feature two new events for this year's show.
On Friday, April 2, the Buie School of Music will provide the musical entertainment. The Buie School will feature the Jamboree African Drummers, which have become a favorite with Expo goers. In addition to the African drummers the Buie School will also have a musical presentation by its talented students.
On Saturday, Mayo Regional Hospital will provide a free health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hospital's health fair will feature health screenings and the latest medical information. In conjunction with Mayo Regional Hospital's health fair, SAD 4 students will provide demonstrations of physical activities on the stage. A new booklet, "Let's Get Physical. . .100 Active Things to do in the Piscataquis Region," will be available for distribution to the public.
The theme for the Mid Maine Historical Society will be businesses and events from Piscataquis County history. Seven local historical societies will be offering displays ranging from the early days of the Piscataquis Observer to winters in Monson.
The Chamber will also offer several door prizes, said Chamber Director Dennis Lyford, including a piece of Moosehead Furniture, Bangor LumberJacks baseball tickets and New England Outdoor Center whitewater rafting tickets.
Lyford pointed out that the 22nd annual Expo would feature 70 displays from local businesses and organizations, and 15 which will be first-time displays.
