Snowe, Collins announce $5.5 million in aviation funding Thursday, March 26, 2009
DEXTER - U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that three Maine airports will be receiving a combined $5,500,000 in grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The funding will be allocated as follows:
• Dexter Regional Airport, Dexter - $3,800,000 for the rehabilitation of Runway 16/34
• Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport, Trenton - $1,200,000 for the construction of a firefighting building
• Augusta State Airport, Augusta - $500,000 for the construction of a firefighting building
"Maine's airports, both big and small, are critical resources for the communities and people they serve," Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "It is essential that we enhance and maintain the infrastructure and safety at each of these airports in order to remain competitive and efficient."
