Denim Drive A Success – More Quilters Needed!
Thursday, April 23, 2009
PENQUIS - Rape Response Services would like to thank all of the members of our community who generously donated to our recent Denim Drive and helped raise awareness about sexual assault. We have received such overwhelming support and so many generous donations that we are ending the denim drive early.

All of the donated denim will be recycled by area quilters and the quilts will then be donated to the Penquis Journey House in Dexter. Because of the wonderful donations received, we need more quilters!

If you or someone you know enjoys quilting, please have them contact Rape Response Services at 973-3662 for information about becoming involved in this project.

Special thanks to the staff of the Merrill Bank for their support and dedication during this drive. Without this important partnership, this drive could not have been a success. If you are visiting one of these branches, please let the staff know that you appreciate their service to the community through collaborative efforts such as these.

The Penquis Journey House will provide temporary housing and a nurturing environment for young women between the ages of 16 and 21, who either already have children or are pregnant. Four girls at a time will be able to live at the house and learn life skills in a family focused atmosphere. If you’d like to learn more about Journey House, visit www.penquis.org or call Penquis at 1-800-215-4942.
