Lady Tiger Soccer Ready for 2008 Season
Saturday, September 06, 2008
Written by Ike Morgan - DEXTER - Kit Welch may be a first year head for the Dexter Tigers but she has plenty of soccer and coaching experience that she brings with her. Welch spent the last two years as the Middle School soccer coach and has seven years overall coaching soccer. She also has several years of basketball and ski coaching experience at other schools. Welch is a 12-year veteran teacher and presently teaches math at the high school. She will be assisted by Karen Murray.

Welch believes with a lot of work and dedication the Dexter Girls' soccer team has a chance to improve on last years' 7-5-2 record. Led by top scorer, Alexis Mitchell and the offense of Anna Fournier, Sara Domenech, and Miranda Gove and a defense led by Sarah Murray, the Tigers hope to earn a spot in the playoffs in October.

One of the challenges the Tigers will face is the fact that they will be utilizing two freshman as their regular goalies. Kaitlyn Caron, and Maicee Gustin will be anchoring the goalie position on the varsity team only one year removed from middle school competition.

The team captains are Fournier, Domenech, Gove and Megan Collopy."This content originally appeared as a copyrighted article in the SVWeekly.com and is used here with permission."
