DEXTER - The Poulliot-Seavey Post #53 of the American Legion honored the Dexter Regional High School's student delegates who attended the Legion's annual Boys and Girls State this summer. Four boys and five girls attended the week-long event.

After the dinner each of the delegates told the audience of Legion members, their guests and the student's parents about their experiences. They learned how the government works and participated in all aspects including campaigning, elections and operation of the legislative and judicial branches. All were elected to an office. They met students from all over the State of Maine, made new friends and listened to government officials such as Governor Baldacci and Senator Collins.

The guest speakers at the dinner were Judy Wilbur Craig and Fred Sherburne. They spoke about their many community activities including the Dexter Community Farm Project which is rejuvenating downtown Dexter. Both are serving on the Town Council and are active in many other volunteer programs which makes them good role models for the students.
