DEXTER - North Country Riding Club of Central Maine held their Year-End Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club House in Dexter. Members and family who attended came from many surrounding communities.
A Pot Luck Supper was served followed by musical entertainment and the highlight of the evening, presentation of Year-End Awards. The Year-End are presented to members who achieved the highest level in their age and/or experience divisions.
The children of the Maynard Family performed two songs accompanied by several musical instruments. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to listen to the family play and was enjoyed by all.
Also during the evening, Tim Briggs on behalf of Penobscot Lodge #39, presented NCRC President Bonnie Shorey a $500 check for the NCRC Irene Cochrane Scholarship Fund. The money was raised this year with the sale of raffle tickets for a handmade wooden baby cradle made by Past Master Sheldon Elliot. NCRC established the scholarship fund in memory of member Irene Cochrane of Dexter for all her community contributions throughout the years.
A donation to the NCRC Irene Cochrane Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits a Maine High School senior or to one seeking higher education in the horse related field.
