DEXTER - The staff of the Abbott Memorial Library is reminding area bakers that now is the time to start start chopping fruit and nuts for their prize winning fruitcakes. Fruitcake always tastes better when made weeks before serving. Library staff will be slicing and serving fruitcakes baked by area bakers on Saturday, December 11th at 2 PM as part of the library's third annual Fruitcake Fanciers Bake-Off. Prizes will be award for First Place ($25), Second Place ($20) and Third Place ($10). If the winning recipe comes out of a cookbook owned by the library, the prize money will be doubled.
