DEXTER - Tri-County Technical Center (TCTC), in conjunction with Washington County Technical College, will offer a Plumbing Technology Certificate program through Penquis Higher Education Center of Eastern Maine Community College. The course will start in January, 2009, and will be held at TCTC. The Plumbing Technology Certificate program is a two-year, part-time certification which will be held on Friday evenings and Saturdays. It will prepare students to assemble, maintain, and repair plumbing systems in accordance with the Maine State Plumbing Code. Through classroom instruction, students will learn design, layout, and installation theory. Working in a shop using a simulated house layout, students will acquire the skills necessary to perform basic plumbing operations. Instruction will also include related work in mathematics, communications, soldering, water pumps, and electrical applications. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the State of Maine Journeyman's Plumbing Examination.
