The Town of Dexter and Wassookeag Snowmobile Club will host the twelfth annual Winter Festival
The Wassookeag Snowmobile Club celebrates it's 40th Anniversary!!

The theme is applied to the Town's Open Snow Sculpture Competition and Parade!

Friday, February 17

  • Presentation of the Dexter Regional High School Snow Sculpture Competition Cash awards in the gym at Noon.
  • Chili Cook-Off at Maine Highlands FCU 11am - 2pm at the CU. Cash prizes.
  • Abbott Memorial Library hosts a Sweetheart Tea Party at 4pm
  • Hal Wilkins Memorial Scholarship Fund Ham Dinner at the WSC 5pm -7pm

Saturday, February 18

  • Wassookeag Snowmobile Clubhouse Open House 7am-4 pm
  • The Clubhouse has a “new look” inside!
  • Great home cooked breakfast, lunch and dessert menu!
  • Antique Snowmobile Ride In starting at Little Lake Wassookeag Parking Lot 9am
  • Free Workshop: Food Preservation at the Abbott Memorial Library Meeting Room 9:30-11:30am
  • Kids Sliding Party with Radar at DRHS Hill 10 am-Noon
  • Roller Skating at the Town Hall 2-4pm
  • Public Dinner at the Universalist Church by donation from 5-7pm
  • Military Supply Silent Auction at Moosehead Trail Motor Lodge 4:30pm
  • Winter Festival Adult Dance Moosehead Motor Lodge 8:30- 12:30pm
  • Dexter's Ice Skating Rink Open and Lit until 8pm

Sunday, February 19

  • Wassookeag Snowmobile Clubhouse Open House 7am -4pm
  • Town's Snow Sculpture Judging 10am
  • Snowmobile Parade along RR Bed thru town 11am
  • Snow Sculpture & Parade Awards Presentation at Snowmobile Clubhouse at 12:15pm
  • Dexter's Ice Skating Rink Open and Lit until 8pm

ANTIQUE SNOWMOBILE RIDE IN: The Wassookeag Snowmobile Club will host an Antique Snowmobile Ride In. Meet at the Little Lake Wassookeag parking lot at 9 am. Ride will begin at 11am. The route will be from the Little Lake Wassookeag to the WS Clubhouse. Then continuing a loop around Big Lake Wassookeag ending back at the parking lot at Little Lake Wassookeag.

HWMSF DINNER: The Wassookeag Snowmobile Club will host a Ham Dinner at the clubhouse on the Number Ten Road from 5 pm-7 pm, by donation, to benefit the Hal Wilkins Memorial Scholarship Fund. Cash awards are given to two DRHS graduating Seniors each year.

CHILLI COOK-OFF: The Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union will host a chili cook-off at the MHFCU from 11 am -2 pm. To benefit Ending Hunger in Maine. Judged by the public. Contestants must enter crock pots by 10:45 am and provide a list of ingredients. Make a $2.00 donation to MC's Campaign for Ending Hunger and taste ALL entries to vote for your favorite! Cash prizes to the 1st, 2nd,3rd place winners!

FREE WORKSHOP: The Abbott Memorial Library will host a free workshop on Food Preservation: Drying and Lacto-Fermentation in the Library's Meeting Room from 9:30-11:30 am. Pre-registration is required by calling 924-3836 (eves). Sponsored by the Abbott Memorial Library and the Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT). Snow date: Feb. 25

ADULT DANCE: The dance will be held at the Moosehead Trail Motor Lodge in Dexter. There is a cover charge at the door and the band “TriPolar” will be performing. The trio brings together backgrounds in classic rock, “80's hair band/ballad rock and even a little country and blues flavor. There will be “specials” running on the food menu. (Must be 21 to enter.)

SILENT AUCTION & 50/50 RAFFLE: The Wassookeag Snowmobile club will host a Silent Auction at the Moosehead Trail Motor Lodge starting at 4:30pm . Items from Maine Military Supply and other area business donations to be sold. The Club will also have a 50/50 Raffle during the auction and dance. (Must be 21 to enter.)

KIDS SLIDING PARTY: The WSC will host a children's sliding party on the slope near the Dexter Regional High School's football field. A competition using your own plastic sleds, saucers, tubes, cardboard, etc. in a seated position will be detected by radar for speed. There is no entry fee. Small prizes to the participants.

PUBLIC DINNER: A public dinner will be held at the Universalist Church from 5-7 pm using locally grown food. Cost is by donation.

SNOW SCULPTURES: The Dexter Regional High School Class Competition will be judged on Friday am on 2/17 . The theme is “ Famous Film Studios”.
Cash Prizes will be given to each of the four classes. 1st-$100; 2nd-$75; 3rd-$50; and 4th-$25.

There are two categories for the town's open competition themed “A Winter Sport or Event” at the Lake Wassookeag Beach Area off Route 23.
Cash award and trophy to first place winners in
1) Business/Organization
2) Individual/Family.

Trophy and a $50 cash award to Best In Show! Registration is required by February 14th to compete.

SNOWMOBILE PARADE: Parade participants will gather at McFarland Street (near the Dexter Shoe buildings) beginning at 10 am. The parade will begin promptly at 11am down the RR Bed stopping briefly at the Four Seasons Adventure Trail located behind the Dexter Fire Department to be judged. Presentations of the awards will immediately follow the parade at the Wassookeag Snowmobile Clubhouse on the Number Ten Road. There is no entry fee.
Prizes will be awarded in three competition categories:
1) Business/ Organization
2) Individual/Family
3) Best Costume

Prizes also awarded to:
1) Best Antique Snowmobile
2) Youngest Snowmobile Operator/Participant
3) Most Snowmobile Club Members participating in Parade. The theme is “A Winter Sport or Event”. We have a website! Wassookeag Snowmobile Club
